M&S in Northallerton to reserve time for elderly and NHS workers to do shopping

M&S in Northallerton.

The M&S Foodhall in Northallerton is to set aside time for the elderly and vulnerable to do their shopping.

Time will also be reserved for NHS staff and other emergency service workers.

From today the store will be open 8am to 9am just for the elderly and vulnerable.

This slot will then continue every Monday and Thursday.

For NHS and emergency workers, the store will reserve 8am to 9am every Tuesday and Friday.

Customers will only be able to buy two items of groceries, including milk, and homecare.

Chief executive Steve Rowe said staff from the clothing and home team will be joining the food teams to help with increased demand.

M&S’s clothing fitters will still be available to advise customers but the retailer’s cubicle-based bra and suit-fitting services have been closed until further notice.

M&S has also introduced a contact-free delivery service for all clothing, home, flowers, hampers and wine orders to allow for zero hand-to-hand contact – with the driver leaving the delivery at a customer’s door.
