Mountain rescue volunteers came to the aid of an injured runner today.
Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team (CMRT) was called by North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) to help with a woman who had badly injured an ankle in Guisborough Woods while taking part in a running event.
Due to her location along a muddy and uneven track, the NEAS crew were unable to carry her on their own/
A CMRT spokesperson said: “Two team Land Rovers were soon dispatched from our Great Ayton Base and other team members made their own way to the scene.
“To protect the casualty from the rain, we covered her in a group shelter and then administered pain relief before securing her ankle within a vacuum splint.
“She was then lifted onto a rescue stretcher, wrapped within a casualty bag to keep warm and carried approximately 300 metres to the waiting ambulance.”
