Contractors working on the Treadmills development in Northallerton are warning motorists of possible traffic delays in the town.
In order to safely complete the demolition of the former prison gatehouse there will be a partial road closure in East Road.
The road will be closed from 9.30am until 3pm on Thursday and Friday this week and if necessary on Monday and Tuesday next week (Nov 25 and 26). Vehicle movement will be controlled by two way traffic lights with disruption kept to a minimum during these off peak times.
Work is now well underway on the £17million transformation of the old prison site into a major retail and leisure development – the foundations for the new Lidl store are almost complete with steelwork expected to be erected from mid-December.
The original signage from the gatehouse – two stone white roses and a VR sign have both been removed and will be incorporated into phase two of the development.
The project is being delivered by Castlehouse Construction for the Central Northallerton Development Company – a partnership between Hambleton District Council and Wykeland of Hull.
