Motorist crashes after swerving to avoid pheasant

A van driver crashed into a car after swerving to avoid a pheasant yesterday.

The incident happened on the Tame Bridge to Seamer Road, near Stokesley, yesterday morning.

The emergency services were called at around 8.30am.

Stokesley and Coulby Newham fire crews attended the two vehicle collission,

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The van driver swerved to avoid a pheasant in the road, colliding with the car approaching from the opposite direction.”

Both drivers were women aged around 50.

Neither motorist was trapped, with the van driver treated by ambulance crews for shock and the car driver for hip and neck injuries.
