Motorcyclist seriously injured in collision with car

A driver has been arrested after a collision between a car and a motorbike left the rider in hospital.

It happened on West Lane, between Stillington and Easingwold at around 9.20pm last night.

A silver Audi A5 collided with a white KTM motorcycle.

The motorbike rider, a man in his 40s, was seriously injured and airlifted to hospital.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was uninjured. He was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and causing injury through dangerous driving.

The road was closed overnight to allow forensic examiners to gather evidence.

A police spokesperson said: “We’ve launched an investigation and would like to hear from anyone who saw either vehicle in the moments leading up to the crash or anyone who witnessed the incident.”

The Audi was travelling from the direction of Stillington to Easingwold and the motorbike was going in the opposite direction.
