Police say a man involved in the violent death of a car dealer who absconded from an open prison has links to Hambleton.
Ryan Hill, 41, left Hatfield Prison in Doncaster on Christmas Eve and has not returned.
Hill was jailed for manslaughter in 2008 and was recalled to prison for burglary in 2019.
Prison staff became aware he was missing at around 10.30pm on Christmas Eve, and notified police shortly afterwards.
Officers say that since then extensive enquiries have been carried out to try and locate him but without success,
Police are now asking the public for help to trace Hill, who was jailed for his part in the violent robbery and death of a Wakefield car dealer.
Hill is described as being around 6ft 3in tall with a medium build and blond hair.
One of his front teeth is missing and he has a number of tattoos including one saying ‘BULLDOG BULLDOG BREED OGGY’ on his right arm.
He is known to have links to Sowerby near Thirsk, as well as Wakefield and Upton in West Yorkshire and Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire.
A police spokesperson said: “If you see Hill, do not approach him but instead call 999 quoting incident number SYP 64 of 25 December.
“If you have any information about where he might be, please call 101.”
