A man stole a pensioner’s handbag while she was returning her trolley at a Thirsk supermarket on Saturday.
Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a theft in the car park at Aldi in Topcliffe Road at about 1.30pm.
As a woman in her 70s went to return her trolley, the suspect stole her handbag from inside the vehicle.
The suspect is described as a white male, in his late 40s, 6ft 2, with a “wide build”.
He was dressed in black clothing and was also wearing a baseball cap.
The suspect may have also had a second male working with him.
The handbag is described as a brown leather handbag and contained a black purse, that had approximately £60 in cash.
The handbag also had several sentimental items belonging to the victim including rosary beads and photographs.
Police are requesting the public’s assistance to help establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
In particular, police are keen to speak to anyone who was parked in the car park at the time with dashcam footage.
