
Detectives investigating a serious assault on a man in Northallerton have released CCTV images of a suspect and two potential key witnesses.
The incident happened on Elder Road at around 2am today.
A police spokesperson said: “The victim, who is aged in his 30s, was reportedly punched to the head in an unprovoked attack.
“This resulted in him being knocked unconscious for a period of time and he was taken to hospital by ambulance to receive treatment for head and facial injuries.”
The suspect is described as white, about 6ft, stocky build, short brown hair with shaved sides. He was wearing dark trainers with white soles, dark slim trousers, a white t-shirt and a dark jacket.
There are also two potential key witnesses who police are appealing to come forward to assist their enquiries – a woman wearing a pink outfit and a man wearing a white top.
Detective Sergeant Tom Barker said: “This is a particularly concerning incident which has left the victim with significant injuries.
“If you witnessed the incident or know who the suspect in the CCTV image is, it is vitally important that you come forward to speak to us without delay.
“Also, we need to trace the woman and man in the other CCTV image who we believe could be key witnesses. If this is you or you know who they are, please get in touch as soon as possible.”
