Man appears in court charged with attempted murder after Northallerton stabbing

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder following an alleged stabbing in Northallerton.

Darren Harris, 57, appeared at Leeds Crown Court today when he denied attempting to murder the man.

The incident occurred on July 2 when police responded to a report that a man had been stabbed with a needle in Zetland Street.

The victim, local record shop owner Gary Lewis, of Betterdaze Jukebox & Record Shop, suffered serious injuries and needed hospital treatment.

Judge Andrew Stubbs KC adjourned the case for a trial starting on January 20 next year.

Mr Harris, of Amesbury Crescent, Middlesbrough, was remanded in custody until then.
