The sultry tones of live jazz could be heard at Kiplin Hall and Gardens on Friday evening.

The Worth Valley Hot 7 performed in the parkland set to the backdrop of the 400-year-old historic house in aid of The Friends of Kiplin Hall.

Supported by The Tipsy Heifer, 80 people attended and helped to raise £1,390.

The Friends are a charity supporting the work of the museum and visitor attraction.

Funds raised by the group are used across the organisation, from funding the purchase of new benches in the parkland to the conservation of historic objects in museum collection.

Event organiser, Artemis Toouli, said: ““The Friends of Kiplin Hall is a membership organisation. Anyone can pay the annual fee (currently £26 for an adult) to join.

“They receive an annual ticket to visit Kiplin Hall and Gardens, a quarterly newsletter, and invites to special events and previews, and discounts. Or anyone can come along to enjoy our public fund raisers like the jazz evening.

“On the 19th August we have a Ukulele band coming to play, which should be great fun. We are starting a little earlier for this one, at 6:30pm as we hope families with children will also enjoy coming during the summer holiday, it’s sure to be a jolly sing along. And on September 26 we are having a pub quiz at The Black Bull Inn at Moulton.

“As the name suggests we are a friendly group. We work hard to support Kiplin Hall and Gardens but also enjoy social time together, so I’d encourage anyone interested in joining us to come along to an event and find out more.”

The next Friends event takes place on Saturday, August 19, when 25 ukulele players, The Eagle Ukes Band, will take to the outdoor stage.

Tickets are on sale now at kiplinhall.co.uk/events.

Membership fees and funds raised at events are used by The Friends of Kiplin Hall to support the work of Kiplin Hall Trust. Kiplin Hall and Gardens is open 6 days a week, closed on Thursdays.

Visitors can explore the historic house museum and 90 acres of gardens and grounds, as well as indulge themselves for a treat at the award winning tea room.
