Latest data reveals Covid-19 death spike in Hambleton

The latest data has revealed a spike in the number of people with Covid-19 dying in Hambleton.

Figures released this week by the Office for National Statistics show that 69 people from the district have passed away after testing positive for the virus.

Of the 69 deaths so far recorded, 41 were in hospitals, 24 were in care homes, three were at home and one was in a hospice.

The data includes all deaths, where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate, that occurred up to June 19 but were registered up to June 27.

  • Week 12 – 1 death in hospital
  • Week 13 – 0 deaths
  • Week 14 – 7 deaths in hospital
  • Week 15 – 9 deaths in hospital, 1 in a care home
  • Week 16 – 7 deaths in hospital, 6 in care homes, 1 at home
  • Week 17 – 8 in hospital, 5 deaths in care homes
  • Week 18 – 3 in hospital, 4 deaths in care homes, 1 at home
  • Week 19 – 2 in hospital, 2 deaths in care homes, 1 at home
  • Week 20 – 0 deaths
  • Week 21 – 1 death in a care home
  • Week 22 – 1 death in a care homes
  • Week 23 – 1 death in a hospice
  • Week 24 – 2 deaths in care homes
  • Week 25 – 4 deaths in hospital, 2 in care homes

When these figures are converted to a graph they highlight that there was a decline in the number of deaths in April and through May, but there has been an increase in the most recent weeks.

The data is not available yet for the last ten days of June.

The numbers of deaths, however, remain low compared to other areas of the country.

Of the 69 recorded deaths of Hambleton residents, all occurred after March 15, according to the data.
