New trustees are being sought to help run Kiplin Hall and Gardens.
The current board of trustees work with director, James Etherington, to oversee the running and ongoing development of the historic house near Scorton.
In 2025, Kiplin will celebrate its 400th anniversary and opens a new welcome centre, including a tea room, gift shop and museum displays.
Mr Etherington said: “We are keen to hear from people from a wide range of backgrounds or circumstances, with particular skills and experience in finance, visitor operations, legal and curatorial matters to help oversee the continued development of the hall and gardens.
“We’d really like to recruit someone living locally to join our team. By growing our board of trustees we will be better placed to navigate this exciting period of change and transition.”
Current trustee Lottie Atkinson lives two miles away from Kiplin, in Bolton on Swale.
She runs a business dealing in fine and rare books, previously having worked in education as a deputy headteacher and special needs coordinator.
She said: “As a trustee I can bring my experience to the board but I’m also learning all the time.
“Learning about the history of Kiplin, and the work involved in running a museum. It’s a great challenge, highly enjoyable and exciting. Especially being involved right now, at a time of change for the museum with the development of our new welcome centre.
“It’s great to work with such a welcoming and supportive team; the other members of the board, the staff and the volunteers. Kiplin is a very special place to be a part of. It feels like a treat every time I come to a meeting, which often include cakes from the tea room.”
