Kiplin Hall has received a grant of £100,000 from the Wolfson Foundation towards its new welcome centre.
The centre project is due to officially open in 2025 as the attraction celebrates its 400th anniversary.
The centre will include a new tea room, gift shop, ticket office and museum gallery as well as outdoor dining space and an all-round warmer welcome for those arriving on site.
During 2025 several events are planned to celebrate this milestone year and a new chapter in Kiplin’s story.
Director of Kiplin Hall and Gardens, James Etherington said: “We are thrilled to learn we’ve been successful in our application for a £100,000 grant from the Wolfson Foundation.
“This money will make a huge impact on our work, helping us in various elements of the welcome centre project including displays in our Annie Marchant Collection space.
“As well as improving our museum displays, helping us to better communicate Kiplin’s history, the new welcome centre will improve the viability of the business. Kiplin is an independent charity reliant on ticket sales for income.
“The larger tea room, expanded gift shop and improved facilities will help us to welcome even more visitors to this special place.”
The Wolfson Foundation is an independent charity with a focus on research and education.
Paul Ramsbottom, chief executive, said: “As Kiplin Hall and Gardens approaches its 400th anniversary, we are very pleased to support the organisation with the development of its new welcome centre.
“The new centre will encourage more visitors to the site and provide an appealing insight into Kiplin’s heritage by telling the stories of the people who passed through its doors.”
