Pub operator JD Wetherspoon says it will start work on its new pub in Northallerton on September 28.

The company is investing £2.5 million to redevelop a former pub, The Buck Inn in High Street into one of its pubs.

The pub, which will retain the name, is set to open in March 2021.

The company said more than 50 new full and part-time jobs would be created.

The pub will feature a large customer area and also a beer garden.

In total there will be 6,500 square foot of customer space (inside and outside combined)

Wetherspoon chief executive John Hutson said: “We are delighted that development work is to start later this month.

“We believe the new pub will be a great asset to the area and hopefully act as a catalyst for further investment in Northallerton.

“We are confident that the new pub will appeal to a wide range of people.”
