An interactive trail around Stokesley – designed by local schoolchildren – will be launched next month.
The trail will take people around the market place to discover not just well known landmarks and local businesses but also the town’s hidden treasures.
Students from Stokesley School have worked on the project which aims to bring in more people to the town to visit and shop.
Hambleton District Council has supported it through its Vibrant Market Towns programme.
The idea came about when year seven and eight pupils undertook a My Place project where they compared a rural location like Stokesley with their more urban neighbour, Middlesbrough, looking at the challenges the areas face and how to manage them.
One of those issues was about learning more about the local area – for visitors and local people – and so the idea of the trail was born.
It will be available at local businesses and community venues in Stokesley in the coming weeks with answers to the questions it raises found on the town council noticeboard at the town hall.
