Letters informing 3,000 Hambleton voters they will not be going to the polls next month will drop through post boxes next week.
As a result of an uncontested seat in the Huby ward the electorate no longer have to vote in the Hambleton District Council elections on 2 May.
Only one candidate was nominated for the Huby ward, meaning they were elected without a contest. Di Watkins takes this seat unopposed.
There are also no parish elections in this ward.
“We have 3,000 voters in the Huby ward and they no longer have to vote – with 415 of them postal voters,” said returning officer, Dr Justin Ives.
“We are informing everyone affected by post next week.”
He said it meant four polling stations will not be used – in Brandsby, Huby, Stillington and Sutton on the Forest.
