Hambleton Foodshare in Northallerton has received a £350 donation from homebuilder, Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, in order to help it produce more food parcels in the early months of the year.
Hambleton Foodshare is a community partnership which provides emergency food parcels for people who are struggling to feed themselves and their families.
The aim of this scheme is to provide a three-day emergency food supply to people in temporary financial crisis.
Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire’s £350 donation is the equivalent to around 15 parcels for those who need them and has been welcomed greatly by the organisation.
It can also be used for items such as nappies, baby milk, cleaning materials and cheese, eggs bread and spread which are added to every parcel.
Alison Grainger , coordinator at Hambleton Foodshare, said: “Thank you to Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire for their contribution which will help us in the early months of this year.
“In previous years there has been a lull in donations after Christmas, but the need is still there and therefore this contribution will make a real difference as we continue to face more uncertain times due to coronavirus.”
Steven Ball, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey North Yorkshire, said: “We’re very pleased to be able to offer our support with a contribution to Hambleton Foodshare at a challenging time in the UK.
“Giving back to the communities in which we build is a big part of what we do, and we thought it was important to contribute to this cause, helping the team to continue to carry out their vital and excellent work – they are a credit to the local area.”
