Historic stones mounted on the gatehouse of the former Northallerton prison have been saved.
The gatehouse was demolished last month as part of the £17m Treadmills retail business and leisure development.
However, the three stones – two white roses and the ‘VR’ from the original jail structure have been salvaged.
They will be given a new home in phase two of the development when the listed buildings will be brought back into use.
Kevin Simon, from construction company Castlehouse Construction, is pictured with the historic stones.
