Hambleton’s Civic Centre turned rainbow colours last week to mark the six month countdown to the world cycle championships.
Northallerton is to host the start of one the most prestigious races in the UCI Road World Championships – the men’s elite time trials.
The High Street will be taken over with riders from across the globe on Wednesday, September 25 who will cycle through Romanby, Morton on Swale and Bedale as they head to the finish line in Harrogate 54km later.
And the following weekend riders will once again venture into the district passing through West Tanfield on both days.
Thursday marked six months to go to the start of the championships and to celebrate landmarks across Yorkshire were lit up with the UCI’s iconic rainbow bands.
They were St Mary’s Church, Beverley: City Hall and Centenary Square, Bradford; Doncaster Minster; Knaresborough Castle; Leeds Civic Hall; Civic Centre, Northallerton and Friary Tower, Richmond.
