A special school near Northallerton is appealing for members of the public to become new governors.
The Dales School, based in Morton-on-Swale, supports children and young people with severe and complex needs aged between two and 19.
This includes sixth form provision for over 20 young adults with moderate, severe, complex and multiple learning needs, with preparation for adulthood a key aspect of the curriculum offer.
The school has stayed open throughout the Covid-19 pandemic to support key workers and children in partnership with social care providers and is now asking for new potential governors to support the school in the next phase of it’s development.
Headteacher Ann-Marie Ellis said: “We are incredibly proud of our role in the community and the school has an excellent track record in improving outcomes for children and young people.
“That was recognised in our most recent Ofsted inspection which was rated as ‘Good’ in all areas.
“In order to continue to progress and give our children and young people the best possible environment to fulfil their potential, we are asking members of the community to join our team of dedicated governors.
“We are interested in hearing from anyone who has a passion for supporting children and young people, as well as making a positive difference in their community.
“As a school governor, you can help set the strategic direction for the school and ensure we continue to run as effectively as possible in meeting the needs of our children and young people.
“We can’t wait to hear from anyone interested.”
No experience is necessary.
Anybody interested in volunteering for the role is asked to contact the clerk of governors, Heidi Taylor, on 01609 772932 or by using the contact tab on the school website www.thedalesschool.org and selecting the option of ‘governor advert’.
