The team at Hambleton Athletics and Running Club (HARC) traded their running shoes for paddles to take part in the Scarborough Dragon Boat Race.
It was the second year in a row the club had attended the event which is organised by the Rotary Club of Scarborough Cavaliers.
Held at The North Yorkshire Water Park, teams of 16, plus a drummer and a helm, paddle in races over 200m in 12-metre dragon boats.
The HARC Hydras raced three times, managing to improve their time with each outing.
Sara Crow, from the club, said: “The team did not make the final but demonstrated teamwork and harmony of purpose are just as important as strength, endurance and skill.
“Not only did they have a great day out in glorious sunshine, they managed to raise a fantastic £600 for Dementia Forward, a local charity, supporting those affected by dementia in North Yorkshire.
“In the local area, they provide advice, support and wellbeing services to ensure that people can live well with dementia. ”
Fundraising is still open if you wish to contribute.
