Hambleton Heroes scheme launched to celebrate kindness in the community

Hambleton District Council has launched the Hambleton Heroes scheme, aimed at recognising those who went “above and beyond” during 2020.

The Hambleton Heroes scheme seeks to give people the opportunity to say thank you to someone who has supported them over the past 12 months.

The council says it wants to acknowledge the selfless acts and relentless efforts that have made a real difference to residents from across the district when they’ve needed it most and celebrate the innovative ways people have overcome challenges in their community.

Leader of HDC, Councillor Mark Robson said “There have been so many good examples of kindness, community spirit and selflessness, particularly since the start of the COVID crisis in March, and we wanted to give people the opportunity to put someone whose made a real difference in their lives forward to be recognised.

“Over the last few months, the need for the community to pull together and support each other has never been more important and we see this initiative as the perfect way to celebrate the huge amount of fantastic community work that’s been carried out.

“I’m looking forward to hearing about individuals or group efforts that have made a real difference to our residents, who knows we could even discover our own Sir Tom.”
