Hambleton District Council has closed all its leisure centres due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Bedale, Northallerton, Stokesley and, and Thirsk and Sowerby centres will shut, as well as the artificial turf pitch at Thirsk School.
The facilities will be closed from Thursday morning.
Officials say the facilities will remain shut throughout March and for the foreseeable future.
A spokesperson said: “The council will then give full consideration to government guidance with regards to when it will be appropriate for us to reopen but clearly the health and safety of all our customers, visitors and employees has to come first.
“We appreciate that our customers will have questions for us that, at present, we do not have answers for; we would therefore politely request some time to consider these matters.
“We will then provide a list of FAQ’s to help address your queries. We will also make sure that none of our customers are financially disadvantaged by our leisure centre closures.
“This will include suspending direct debit membership payments and ensuring customers are not ‘out of pocket’ as a result of our actions.
“We ask you not to cancel your direct debit as this will prevent future access when we re-open; we will take care of this.”
