Hambleton councillors have approved a 4.79 per cent increase in council tax for an average Band D property.
Members of the full council this week agreed a recommendation from their cabinet colleagues ,which will bring the annual charge for a Band D property up £5 to £109.48 from April this year.
A rise will mean the average Hambleton householder will be paying 50p extra per month over their ten monthly payments.
Council bosses say it means the authority retains its status as one of the lowest charging councils in the country – and the lowest in North Yorkshire.
The increase will mean a Band D property will be charged £109.48 a year for the Hambleton portion of the council tax bill – charges from North Yorkshire County Council, North Yorkshire Police, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service and parishes will be added to this figure.
The changes to Hambleton District Council tax for all bands are:
Band A: £72.99 (rise of £3.34)
Band B: £85.15 (rise of £3.89)
Band C: £97.32 (rise of £4.45)
Band D: £109.48 (rise of £5)
Band E: £133.81 (rise of £6.11)
Band F: £158.14 (rise of £7.22)
Band G: £182.47 (rise of £8.34)
Band H: £218.96 (rise of £10)
