Small businesses in Hambleton are being offered cash help to join a support network.
Hambleton District Council was the first local authority in the UK to support businesses with the membership costs of joining the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) for the first time.
In the last six years it has supported 293 business people to join.
Now that support is being doubled – with a £100 grant from the council and the joining fee of £30 waived by the FSB.
“This is one programme, in a series of measures, we have brought forward through our response and recovery plan in support of businesses and the wider economy helping them through the recovery from the pandemic,” said deputy leader of the council, Councillor Peter Wilkinson.
“We know that businesses are supported they are more likely to survive and prosper and this financial support is another important strand to our economic strategy.”
FSB Membership advisor Adam Guttridge, added: “We are delighted to continue the partnership with Hambleton District Council to provide the first year of membership at a subsidised rate. It makes it less than £50 for the first year if you have no employees – and local small businesses and the self employed are able to gain business support, networking opportunities and access advice from us.
“We urge businesses to get in touch to take advantage of the generous council contribution, which will be time limited, so that we can help to support their recovery.”
Membership gives businesses advice and support when they need it including: legal hub, insurance, workplace pensions, business banking, cyber protection, employment protection and debt recovery.
