Another weekend, another tail race – a local one this time, as members from Hambleton Athletics and Running Club took on the two distances available in the Falls and Castle Trail Races at Castle Bolton, Wensleydale, last Sunday.
Better weather prevailed this time, with cool and clear skies at the start line and beautiful sunshine to warm up the finishers.
Head coach Chris Lees completed an arduous 18 miles trail run in 2:49:59 and Alasdair McWilliam achieved 4:42:18 from a field of 105 runners.
In the shorter, though no less challenging seven miles race, Club Chair Toby Ellis grabbed a course PB in 55:19:02 and second claim member Julie Elsey came home in 1:24:35.
The event was organised by MaD Races, fully meeting the new expectations of a completely Covid-19 Secure race, with runners setting off in small groups to maintain social distancing and compulsory face masks being worn at the start and finish lines.
As ever, support from other HARC members and their families, was much appreciated.
