Growth was the key topic up for discussion at a business conference held in Easingwold last week.
Now in its seventh year, the Hambleton Business Conference event attracted more than 130 people from 70 businesses in the district.
Delegates gathered to hear inspirational stories and gain useful insights on growth from real businesses.
Businesses shared their success stories on how they built them up and overcame challenges whilst speakers tackled the question of ‘what growth means to them’.
The key note speech delivered by Anthony Stones and Chris Wragg, from Inspired Pet Nutrition, focussed on growing a company and developing a third generation family manufacturing business, whilst always looking for new customers and finding a unique and competitive position.
Speaker Lee Harris-Hamer, who left the Armed Forces and set up White Horse Cleaning Services talked about the rapid growth of his business and the challenges along the way.
And Jonathan Elvidge spoke about his health-tech start-up Moodbeam and how the Centre for Digital Innovation supported this company as it grew, inspired by a mum’s desire to know how her daughter was feeling when she wasn’t with her.
Attendees took away top tips about what to expect from growing their business, the ups and downs and the steps to success.
This year’s delegates were also given the opportunity to speed network with a range of specially selected business experts.
“We are delighted to bring businesses and organisations together to learn from these specialists and to provide an opportunity for delegates to be inspired to move their own businesses forward,” said Helen Kemp, director of economy and planning.
“The speakers promoted some very interesting talking points and we hope with their experience we have helped provide guidance to businesses across the district.
