Funding available for Hambleton community projects

The Northallerton Fire Cadets received funding for new jackets.

A local housing association is urging community groups and organisations to apply for funding.

Broadacres has grants of up to £500 available to Richmondshire and Hambleton good causes and community groups.

The Broadacres Community Development Fund awards grants to charities and projects in areas where the organisation has housing.

The outcomes of the applications are agreed by a small group of volunteer tenants, rather than Broadacres staff.

They meet quarterly to review all the applications.

Gill Davies, Broadacres customer insight officer, said: “Our world may have changed dramatically but the Broadacres Community Development Fund remains available for funding to charities and projects in areas where we have housing.”

Applications are reviewed quarterly, with the next cut off being Wednesday, September 9.

Recent funding has gone towards:

  • Training for coach development at Leyburn United JFC
  • Installing public benches in Colburn to pay tribute to the work of key workers during the pandemic
  • A mental health room at Wensleydale School & Sixth Form
  • Improving the outdoor play area at a preschool in Catterick Garrison
