Fires started in Northallerton shop doorways

Firefighters were called out overnight after fires were started deliberately in shop doorways in Northallerton High Street.

Crews from Northallerton and Thirsk were called at around 12.15am this morning to the first blaze.

Firefighters extinguished the fire using two hose reel jets, main jet and a thermal imaging camera.

A short time later crews from Northallerton and Bedale responded to a second fire in the doorway of another shop.

This was extinguished using a hose reel jet and a wildfire rake.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said this fire was also started deliberately.
