Firefighters were called to a fire at a property in Aiskew this evening.
Fire appliances from Bedale, Colburn and Northallerton, together with aerial ladder platforms from Darlington and Harrogate responded to the house fire.
Police urged motorists and pedestrians to avoid Bedale Road between Aiskew and Bedale while firefighters dealt with the roof blaze at the unoccupied property.
The incident was reported at about 4.50pm today.
A police spokesperson said: “Please follow the local diversions until further notice regarding the road closure.”
Police later announced that the road past the scene had reopened at about 9.30pm.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue SErvice say the cause of the blaze will be investigated this week.
