Firefighters were called to a field on fire in Great Ayton yesterday,
The incident was reported at about 7.55pm
A fire crew from Northallerton responded to reports of a fire measuring 10m by 10m in a wooded area.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “This was believed to have been caused deliberately.
“Crews walked from the appliance wearing wildfire knapsacks full of water and extinguished the fire, and used a thermal imaging camera to ensure all heat sources had been extinguished.”
