Firefighters called after vehicle hits deer

Firefighters were called out after a vehicle hit a deer on the A19 yesterday.

The incident happened on the southbound carriageway on the stretch from Kilvington to Thirsk.

A crew from Thirsk responded to reports of smoke coming from the vehicle following the collision at about 9.20pm on Tuesday.

However, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said it was a false alarm with good intent as it was actually steam coming from the vehicle.
