Firefighters were called to a tanker leaking sulphuric acid in Thirsk this morning.
Crews were called to the incident off York Road at 4.41am this morning.
The leak was coming from a rear valve
Firefighters from Thirsk, Northallerton and Ripon used clay mats to prevent further spillage into the drains.
Gas tight suits and breathing apparatus were used in an attempt to stem the leak using dammit paste.
A recovery vehicle was called to decant the chemical.
