Firefighters were called out after a report of a fire in the open in the Sutton Bank area today.
A fire crew from Easingwold were called to the incident at about 11.30am on Sunday.
On arrival, the crew confirmed this was a false alarm due to controlled burning being carried out under supervision.
No action was taken and advice was given.
