A teenager had a lucky escape after his car went through the central reservation of the A19 and crashed into a HGV today.
The 18-year-old male driver had to be cut free from the wreckage of his Ford Fiesta by firefighters following the crash near Crathorne.
He was assessed by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and taken to hospital by road with minor injuries.
He has now been discharged. The HGV driver suffered no injuries.
One lane of the northbound carriageway was shut while the wreckage was removed.
Police and fire crews from Northallerton, Stokesley and Thornaby attended the incident near the Exelby Services.
The road was closed until around 11.30am to allow for the vehicles to be recovered and damage to the road and barriers to be assessed and repaired by the Highways Agency.
