An actor and writer originally from East Cowton is seeking funding to make a movie.
Former Allertonshire School pupil Stuart Mackie Ellis hopes filming can start on The Final Chapter of Madness later this year.
Stuart has appeared in a number of TV shows and independent films including Casualty and Doctors.
He has written several short films and plays produced in London theatres.
His film, Under, has just won awards at the Toronto Independent Film Festival and London Independent Film Festival and he was nominated for best actor at a handful of festivals for his role in the horror comedy There’s a Monster Behind You.
He is currently raising funds to cover the costs of the new film, which is about a journalist Courtney Piggott, who gets to interview a serial killer.
Stuart said: “We have an award-winning team assembled with Peter Morrell directing and Dann Emmons as director of photography. Producers are Sophia Mackie Ellis and Grant Alexander.
“We are raising money through Greenlit, a crowdfunding platform specialising in the arts.
“We launched the campaign two weeks ago with a £5000 target.
“We have had an unbelievably incredible response so far, raising 84% – £4200.
“With two weeks remaining, we wanted to open even further the opportunity for people to pledge a donation and become a part of this exciting production.”
