Police release CCTV images after safe stolen

A safe has been stolen from a bakery in Northallerton, after burglars broke into the premises.

The theft happened shortly after 9pm on Thursday, November 29 from Thomas the Baker on Northallerton High Street.

North Yorkshire Police are now appealing for information from the public and have released CCTV images taken from behind the bakery that night.

Police say two offenders, one described as wearing a black jacket with hi-vis trousers and the other wearing a grey jacket and black bottoms were seen to exit a vehicle at the rear of Thomas the Baker, which is close to the Applegarth car park. They then attacked a rear door at the property to get into the building. Shortly afterwards, they made off with a safe.  It is not known how much money was taken.

North Yorkshire Police say the vehicle has been sighted on CCTV cameras around the area and is a small white hatchback, possibly a Hyundai or Suzuki. Enquiries are on-going to trace the vehicle and occupants.
