A Crakehall schoolgirl has kicked off a potential career in football by joining a club for talented youngsters.
Amber Holt has signed a year’s contract to play for Durham Women’s Regional Talent Club U10s.
The nine-year-old, who attends Crakehall Primary School, will attend training sessions twice a week and play weekly league fixtures in a boys league, as well as friendlies against other regional talent clubs in the North such as York City, Manchester City and Sunderland.
Amber has previously been playing for Bedale Bluebirds and Leeds United shadow squad.
Durham Women FC play in the second tier of the women’s football pyramid and narrowly lost out on promotion to the Super League last season to Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
Dad Dave Holt said he and mum Caroline were very proud of their daughter.
Amber’s parents are looking for a local business to sponsor her for the year.
The cost is £300 and this covers her match fees, kit, training kit and other administration costs.
The sponsor would get the company name in team programmes and on the club website.
