Council chiefs urge public to use Hambleton markets

Hambleton District Council has launched a publicity campaign to promote the markets in Northallerton on a Saturday and Wednesday and Thirsk on a Saturday and Monday.

The aim of the campaign is to encourage people to shop local and make good use of the fantastic range of independent shopping available in our district.

This campaign is part of the wider #DiscoverHambleton campaign which aims to encourage people to visit, stay and return to Hambleton.

A radio advertising campaign is running throughout June on local radio station York Mix with live broadcasts from Thirsk market on 20 June and from Northallerton market on 15 June.

Cllr Mark Robson, leader of Hambleton District Council, said: “It’s been a tough couple of years for our high streets with Covid and as the cost-of-living crisis deepens, it’s more important than ever than as a district council, we get behind our local business community and do all we can to encourage people to shop local, use their local markets and shop at our independent businesses.

“It’s always a great atmosphere in both Thirsk and Northallerton on market day especially during the summer months and I look forward to seeing people out and about enjoying all our market towns have to offer.”
