A public consultation event for the district’s proposed new crematorium on land near Busby Stoop is taking place next week.

The drop-in session at Sandhutton and Breckenbrough village hall on Wednesday, February 26 between 1pm and 7pm is for anyone with an interest in this new development.

The crematorium plans and information boards will be on display and representatives from Hambleton District Council and the Cemetery Development Services – the main consultant project managing the delivery of the project – will be on hand to answer any questions.

“This is a pre-planning consultation event to help local people familiarise themselves with the new facility and what is planned, ask questions and provide us with useful insight, to help shape this development as the project continues,” said leader of Hambleton District Council, Councillor Mark Robson .

“When completed, the new crematorium will offer state-of-the- art facilities combined with more traditional aspects. With fewer than sixty new crematoria built in the UK over the past thirty-five years, this will be an important local asset for the district – something not already here, and something really quite special.”

The consultation will also be online at www.hambleton.gov.uk/crematorium from 26 February with information and displays in the Civic Centre, Rotary Way, Stone Cross, Northallerton after the event.
