North Yorkshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Philip Allott has welcomed the latest set of recruits to North Yorkshire Police after they were sworn in at the force’s headquarters.

Philip joined Chief Constable Lisa Winward and the new student officers at Alverton Court in Northallerton as they embarked on their policing career.

It means there are now 1,510 officers and 217 PCSOs, 116 special constables and 194 police volunteers working across North Yorkshire Police – the largest the force has been in recent years.

Commissioner Philip Allott said:

“I welcome these new student officers to North Yorkshire Police and look forward to following their journey as they take up their important role serving the public and keeping North Yorkshire and York safe and feeling safe.

“The increase in number of officers, PCSOs, specials and volunteers across the force is positive and it means more visible policing across our communities. We need to see more of this in the years ahead and I want to ensure new recruits properly reflect where we live and work.

“Being part of the police service is often challenging but frequently rewarding and you can make a real difference to peoples’ lives. I would encourage anyone thinking about applying to find out more, register your interest and I hope to be able to meet you as a future new recruit.”
