Hambleton’s new business centre, C4DI, will open in May with the district’s annual conference.
Hambleton Business Week – which is open to delegates not only from across the district but further field – is being held virtually from May 11 – 13 at the new centre.
Its first day will feature an official opening of the £2.3m centre based at the district council’s Treadmills development in Northallerton.
The digital hub, which is focused on helping tech companies grow and traditional businesses innovate within the agriculture, food processing and digital sector, is unique in the way it brings traditional business together with fast tech startups and scaleups through custom innovation programmes and startup incubation.
It aims to give the traditional business access to skills and expertise and gives tech companies unrivalled supply chain and mentor access.
The Northallerton hub will work alongside the original C4DI in Hull which is home to more than 350 members.
The 2021 business conference – on May 12 – will focus on growing the Hambleton economy through digital technology to support the high streets, market towns and traditional businesses. It will give insights into sustainable supply chains and the circular economy and how they can boost business.
After C4DI’s launch on May 11, day two will see Kate Hardcastle MBE deliver a keynote speech on the ‘Digital High Street’.
Kate, who heads the team at consultancy, Insight with Passion, is also a television presenter and commentator, known as the customer whisperer.
Also speaking on May 12 are Amanda Lindsay from human resources consultancy, 2hbr, who will deliver a session on ‘change and the resistance to change’ in the workplace; and Matthew Hopkinson from Didobi who will give national insight into high street change and technology futures.
“C4DI is an exciting new venture for the district council and is already attracting lots of interest from businesses that want to join us to become members there,” said Council Leader, Councillor Mark Robson.
“The conference will bring lots of them together and deliver some amazing sessions from business leaders – learning from experts and meeting new contacts.
“We are looking forward to working together to grow some great businesses in Hambleton, we are the perfect place to do just that.”
Businesses can book places at the conference by logging on to c4di.live.
All the sessions are free – and speaker information and programmes will be added to the website as they are confirmed.
The Treadmills scheme is being developed by Central Northallerton Development Company Ltd (a joint venture between Hambleton District Council and Wykeland Group) with additional funding from the York & North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership, allocated from the Government’s Local Growth Fund.
