A Bedale man has been jailed for sending malicious messages.
Alastair Nigel Burt, 29, of Mowbray Grange, appeared before York Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
He was charged with sending several messages which were deemed to be grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character.
The messages were sent on February 13 and 14 this year.
He was also charged with damaging a Suzuki Alto without lawful excuse on February 9, as well as committing further offences having already received a suspended sentence for an earlier offence.
This was also sending malicious messages for which he received a 12-week suspended sentence on December 9, last year.
Burt, who admitted the offences, was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison.
He was also ordered to pay £382.20 in compensation.
