Residents at a North Yorkshire care home were transported back in time as part of celebrations to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings.
The Millings Care Home in Bedale marked the poignant milestone at a special event on 6th June.
Staff from the home, which is owned by family-run Constantia Healthcare group, dressed in clothes from the time and they were joined by retro harmony duo The Cherry Tones who sang music from the period.
There was then time for an afternoon tea which included scones, cakes and refreshments, and a D-Day themed quiz.
Christine Farmer, Manager at The Millings, said: “Most of our residents remember the war as children and had fathers and other members of their family who served their country, so this was a wonderful way of remembering and saying thank you for everything they did.
“The weather was kind to us, so we were able to hold the event outside and it was nice to see so many residents and their families enjoying the music and generally having a good time.”
