Organisers on Bedale bonfire and fireworks have announced tonight’s event has been cancelled.
The decision has been taken to due to the forecast for hights over the next 24 hours.
A spokesperson said: “This is a first but following this mornings risk assessment the difficult decision has been made to cancel tonight’s event.
“With gale force winds forecast for today and tomorrow Reaction Fireworks along with fire officers have insisted safety has to come first.”
It is hoped to reschedule the event for Monday night.
The spokesperson added: “We now have the task of dismantling everything already put into place this morning ?
