Appeal launched after vandals damage toilets following Rock the Town in Bedale

An appeal has been launched to raise money after vandals caused thousands of pounds of damage to toilets at the site of the Rock the Town music event in Bedale.

Portable toilets were overturned and soap dispensers and pipes broken at Bedale park last night.

Organisers of the event say the damage will cost at least £2,000 to repair.

Craig Hoyland, from MV Visual Audio, which organised the event, said that is likely to increase once the hire firm has fully assess the damage.

He said: “I want to find out who was involved is breaking all the toilets last night.

“We spent 14 hours cleaning up the park. Any help finding those involved would be appreciated.”

A crowdfunding appeal has been launched to help pay for the damage by local resident Emily King.

She said: “After an amazing weekend organised by Craig Hoyland unfortunately he woke up to the news this morning that the Portaloos have been vandalised.

“Craig is now looking at a bill of over £2000 for this — sadly means that the event may not happen again.

“Please, please if you enjoyed the weekend and would love to help, even as little as £1 would be amazing.

“Let’s show Craig how much support he has behind him.”
