An appeal has gone out to find a knitted post box topper designed by children after it was stolen.
The craftwork was taken on Friday night from the post box in Bedale High Street.
It had been designed by children from Mowbray School after a competition was run by local Royal Mail worker Nicki Hall.
She said: “I set up a competition with Mowbray School in Bedale to design a post box knitted topper to brighten up our post box.
“We had nearly 300 kids take part and in the end the mayor of Bedale picked out four winners.
“We then had the Ninja Knitters of Bedale knit the winner’s designs.”
The topper was unveiled in Bedale by the town’s mayor on October 14.
“It was so beautiful to see not only the kids be so excited over their creativity but the fact the whole community got involved,” Nicki added.
However, the post box topper was stolen on Friday.
“I’m absolutely heartbroken not only the kids from the school but for all the people who helped me make this community competition happen.”
