Appeal after man in van approaches girls in Aiskew

The incidents happened on the A684 in Aiskew.

Police have issued an appeal after a van driver twice approached girls in Aiskew.

The suspicious incidents that occurred in Aiskew, near Bedale, on December 1 and 15.

The first incident happened in Aiskew on A684 Bedale Road near to the railway level crossing at 4.30pm on Tuesday, December 1.

It involved two 11-year-old girls who were approached by a male in a white van,.

The driver got out of his van and shouted to the girls who became frightened and ran home.

The second incident occurred about 8.15 am Tuesday, December 15 at the same location.

On this occasion the girls were walking to school and the same van and driver drove slowly alongside and in front of the girls.

The girls reported the incident to school and police.

Police are conducting patrols in the area to reassure the community and help identify the suspect vehicle and driver.

They are also requesting the public’s assistance to help identify the vehicle and driver.

The suspect vehicle is described as a white van with broken wing mirror and cracked windscreen with a possible partial registration of AP17.

The suspect driver is described as a white male, short shaved dark brown or black hair, bushy moustache and beard, aged in his 50’s, wearing a black and red chequered shirt and grey jogging bottoms.
