Heritage, culture and history enthusiasts are in for a treat, with a special event happening in Northallerton this September.

The Hambleton District Council led event will feature acclaimed mixed-media artist Ed Kluz, and award-winning sculptor and steel fabricator Ray Lonsdale.

In this ‘in conversation’ event, Ed and Ray will discuss how they explore our relationship with the past through their research and artworks with Ed’s focus on lost buildings and architecture, and Ray’s retelling of people’s stories and social history.

The event will be held on Wednesday 14 September at 7pm at All Saints Church in Northallerton and is a free to attend ticketed event.

This unique heritage event is part of the wider work associated with the High Street Heritage Action Zone Cultural programme supported by Historic England.

Deputy Leader and Cabinet member for Economic Development Councillor Peter Wilkinson said: “As a district council we are very keen to support and champion our local heritage and history and as such are delighted to offer this free event to everyone.

“We are incredibly lucky to have managed to secure a commitment from both Ray and Ed given how busy they both are, to come along, and share their stories, and provide a real insight into the work they do in celebrating heritage across Yorkshire and other parts of the UK.

“It is my firm belief that we have some of the best heritage in the UK right here in Hambleton and along with the Heritage Hub on the High Street I hope this event highlights our commitment as a council to championing heritage and making it accessible for everyone to enjoy.”
