Firefighters were called to a fire in a field near Hutton Sessay, Thirsk, on Saturday night.
Crews responded to a report of a gas bottle on fire which was made at about 8.10pm.
Thirsk and Easingwold crews were mobilised and arrived to find a gas-powered bird scarer alight.
The crews were able to isolate the gas supply which extinguished the fire.
